STIFF LITTLE FINGERS ADDED TO
DROPKICK MURPHYS SHAMROCK-N-ROLL FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 10-18
Dropkick Murphys have announced the addition of seminal punk band Stiff Little Fingers to the first annual Shamrock-N-Roll Festival. The legendary Belfast band provides a vital link between the festival's modern acts and their roots in both Irish and rock 'n' roll traditions. Stiff Little Fingers further solidify the inaugural Shamrock-N-Roll Festival lineup as one that fans will not want to miss.
"Stiff Little Fingers are a major influence on Dropkick Murphys and we're honored and excited to bring such an important band to this festival lineup," says Dropkick Murphys founder/bassist/vocalist Ken Casey.
The touring festival will feature Dropkick Murphys, Stiff Little Fingers, Street Dogs, Chuck Ragan, The Mahones, The Parkington Sisters and local bands performing on two alternating stages. A boxing demonstration and signing with special guest, renowned boxer "Irish" Micky Ward (The Fighter), will also be featured at the family friendly, all-ages festival.
The Dropkick Murphys Shamrock-N-Roll Festival will kick off September 10 in Bangor, just after Dropkick Murphys' September 8 and 9 sold-out hometown shows at Boston's Fenway Park. The Dropkick Murphys Shamrock-N-Roll Festival will also visit Altamont, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; Columbus, OH; Portsmouth, VA; Rochester, NY and Philadelphia, PA. The festival will feature a main stage and acoustic stage, along with kid-friendly activities.
Tickets are on sale now for all Shamrock-N-Roll Festival shows. Go to www.DropkickMurphys.com to purchase tickets and for more information. $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the band's charity, The Claddagh Fund (www.claddaghfund.org). In addition, $1 from every ticket sold for the September 11 show in Altamont will be donated to 9/11 charities.
The critically-acclaimed Dropkick Murphys—known for their complex distillation of classic punk rock, Celtic folk and American rock 'n' roll—are touring in support of their Going Out In Style CD (Born & Bred Records/ILG), which debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200—the group's highest chart debut to date.
